LADRILS launches its new programme Posted on 09/09/2026 LADRILS – the Research Laboratory on the Acquisition and Teaching of English as a Foreign Language at the University of Pisa – is launching a renewed programme of activities. We are also pleased to announce that the Laboratory has received the official patronage of the Italian Association of English Studies (AIA – Associazione Italiana di Anglistica). The Laboratory brings together researchers working on English language acquisition and teaching in academic, school and other educational contexts. Its central aim is to foster productive dialogue between research and classroom practice, making current research in English linguistics, literature, and language education accessible and relevant to a broad audience. The new programme will begin with a series of online seminars featuring speakers from Italian and international universities. All activities will be held in English and will be open to scholars, PhD students, teachers and anyone interested in English linguistics and literature or in the teaching of English as a foreign language. Scholarly without being narrowly academic, the seminars will explore a wide range of topics and consider how research findings can be translated into effective teaching practices for different educational settings. The seminars will also provide the starting point for the development of practical resources, including teaching units and adaptable materials for different school levels, university courses and teacher-education programmes. These resources will gradually become available in the Materials section of the LADRILS website. By bringing researchers, teachers, students and other interested participants into closer conversation, LADRILS aims to become a shared space for exchanging ideas, experimenting with new approaches and developing research-informed ways of teaching English. Further information about the seminar programme and how to participate is available in the Activities section of the LADRILS website. We look forward to welcoming you to this new phase of LADRILS activities.
